Environmental Monitoring

EXCO Services performs the assessment AND monitoring of the following environmental aspects:

  • Assist clients with investigations into the impact of their activities on the air quality of the surrounding environment.
  • Collections of air samples by way of passive sampling techniques to determine gas and organic vapour concentrations on the boundaries of factories, refineries and mines.
  • Reporting on pollutant levels and the quality of the ambient air on the boundary of the site under investigation.

  • Assist clients with investigations into the impact of their activities on the air quality of the surrounding environment.
  • Collection of dust fall samples and calculations of particulate concentrations are done according to methodology described in ASTM  D1739.
  • Single bucket units are placed on site by our consultants at test positions relevant to the issue at hand.
  • Regular site visits to inspect condition of single bucket units, collection of samples and verbal reporting and explanation of historic test results.
  • Samples delivered to reputable analytical laboratory for accurate analysis.
  • Reporting on dust fall results according to requirements specified in the National Dust Control Regulations.
  • Multi-directional units available for projects that require data on exported and imported fall-out dust.

  • Measurement of Environmental Noise with respect to annoyance at factories, refineries, mines, night clubs and restaurants.
  • Boundary noise levels can be quantified during the day (06h00 – 22h00) and at night (22h00 – 06h00).
  • Tests are done according to SANS 10103:2008 – The measurement and rating of environmental noise with respect to annoyance and to speech communication.

  • Accurate measurement of particulate, gaseous and vapour emissions from chimney stacks, ducts and air vents.
  • Reporting on emission results according to requirements specified by the National Air Quality officer to the Licensing Authority.
  • Assistance with obtaining an Air Emission Licence (AEL) for listed processes.

  • Collection of drinking water samples at the workplace.
  • Collection of storm water samples at industrial, commercial and mining sites.
  • Collection of effluent water samples at industrial and mining sites.
  • Water samples collected according to internationally acceptable methodology and delivered to SANAS accredited laboratory for accurate analysis.
