An Occupational Hygiene Survey was performed at South Africa’s oldest and largest metal recycling company. Stressors monitored during the survey included exposure to noise throughout the sorting, recycling and other activities. HCS monitoring comprised of employee exposure to metal fumes during the cutting, lancing, and smelting of different types of metal, as well as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) and acids. Additional services during the survey included an Illumination Survey throughout the factory during the day and night shifts, as well as Ventilation tests.
